The work would be very different. It would be very different because for example, if the book took place in the 1950's a lot of the objects mentioned would probably be omitted and would change the whole story. The book mentions Jordan driving a Trail Blazer, it also mentions constant calls and describes the phones as flip phones, it also mentions playing cd's in the truck and the famous MySpace girl. I don't think any of that existed back then, so it would be impossible to blame a breakup on a girl that Jordan met on MySpace. Even if we look to the future, for example right now 2013 who even uses MySpace anymore? and people stopped using flip phones a long time ago. If we look more into the future I can`t even imagine what new things will be invented. So basically if the story was set in a different time and place this book would be completely different.

This book compares to other books I've read because it is one of the few books I've read that have more than 1 narrator, the majority of the books I've read are told only by one character. Also, I've started to read books that are so boring that you just don´t have any more interest in reading them, but this book makes you want to turn the page to know what will be happening  next. I got so hooked that I finished it in less than a week. Not necessarily because it`s a good book but because it makes you want to know more.

I think this book would make a really good movie, because it has a really good example of dramatic irony, when the reader knows the reason why  Jordan broke up with Courtney and Courtney has no idea until the denouement. I also think the movie would need to have the scene shifts that the book has because if it didn´t I don´t think it would have the same effect. I like that this book has 2 narrators, but I don't think that would be possible in a movie because it would confuse the audience very much, plus, I've never seen movies narrated by 2 people at different times. Or at least I don't recall any as of right now.

The main conflict in this book is Jordan dumping Courtney out of nowhere  with the excuse that he met a new girl on the Internet. This book takes place (and was probably written) when MySpace was the "thing" so that is the social network mentioned. As we get farther into the book we learn that Jordan didn't meet a girl on the Internet  and obviously doesn't have a new girlfriend but he decided to break up with Courtney right before their trip to college for another reason. Courtney didn't understand Jordan's abrupt decision and thinks that the girl he meet on the Internet is probably better than her but as I said before, there is a reason behind the excuse Jordan stated. When Jordan broke up with Courtney she didn't want to take the trip with him anymore so she told her dad to book her a flight to Massachusetts but his dad refused because Jordan had insisted on going together so he he put an excuse as to why Courtney had to go with Jordan. I don`t want to give away the reason why Jordan broke up with Courtney, so let's just say it involves Courtney's dad, that's why he obeyed Jordan´s petition on making Courtney take the trip with Jordan. No surprise Courtney was mad with his dad for giving her no choice and she was also mad with Jordan for breaking up with her like that.

Okay, so Courtney and Jordan have been in the same advanced math class since freshman year but they never seemed to interact with each other, they just knew who each other was. Then, both of them attended to this party where the whole senior class was invited and each had a different plan. Courtney was going to finally tell his best friend that she  liked him and Jordan, well Jordan was there to get drunk and flirt with Madison Alessio, the captain of the cheerleader squad. B.J. (Jordan's best friend) was drunk and started talking to Courtney and Jordan as a good friend intervened and took BJ away, then he started talking to Courtney and asked for her number. Then Jordan took BJ home and Jordan went home, but when he got home he saw that his mother was having an affair and he quickly left and then remembered Courtney's number written in a piece of paper in his wallet. That's when it all started.

This book has 2 narrators, Courtney & Jordan. I know because the chapters are divided with the name of the person who is telling the story, either Courtney or Jordan and it says the time and date and if it was during, before, or after the road trip they are taking in order to get to college from Florida to Massachusetts. I really like when books are narrated this way, since you get the story from both sides, each character's point of view, and not just the point of view from one character narrating the story.

The principle characters are Courtney McSweeny and Jordan (whose last name isn't mentioned). They are not described physically in depth, but it says Courtney has blue eyes and that Jordan is a tall handsome guy.  Jordan is a player for many reasons  for example, when he started talking to Courtney for the first time at a party, his intention was for Madison Alessio to chase after him. However, Jordan started noticing Courtney more and they started hanging out a lot. Then they became a couple.

Yes, scene shifts are significant because in this book scenes shift either to the past or present and characters, time, and places vary a lot depending on the scene the character is narrating. They are very important in the case of this book because they take you back in time in order to tell you something that is happening in the present, which we wouldn't be able to understand if it was the other way around or if we didn't have some sort of background information.

I decided to read this book because the cover seemed interesting. Not gonna lie, book covers always get me. I have never read a book from this author before, so I'm hoping I like her. I read the summary on the back of the book and it seemed interesting, so I picked it up!
